Regular Celebrations


Vesakh Festival - in April actually encompasses the birth, enlightenment and passing of the Buddha.
 on Sunday, Apr. 29. -  9:00am bis 4:00pm


Vesak commemorates the Birth, Enlightenment, and Death of Gautama the Buddha. It is the most important Buddhist festival and occurs on the full moon day of May. This year Vesak will be celebrated at Germany’s historic and oldest Buddhist Temple, Das Buddhistische Haus, on Sunday April 29th, 2018 (Buddhist Era 2562) in the most fitting manner as undertaken by the Organising Committee.

Members of the public are kindly invited to take part in these celebrations comprising primarily Dana, Sila, Bhavana activities conducted in commemoration of the Buddha’s universal message of peace and non – violence towards all living beings.

09:30 - 10:45am  Meditation led by Ven. Mahagama Suwineetha Thero,
                             residing monk at Buddhistisches Haus Frohnau

10:45 - 12:00pm  Buddha Puja, Sanga-Dana, lunch for guests

11:30 - 12:00am  Offering of Dana to the Sangha

12:00 - 13:15pm  Period of Rest (Community lunch)

13:15 - 14:30pm  Dhammatalk by Ven. Thalpavila Kusalagnana Thero M.A.,
                             lecturer at Hamburg University, Abbot of

Poson Festival
- in June
recalls that the son of the Indian emperor Ashoka, Buddhism in the 3rd Cent. BC brought to Sri Lanka.
Kathina Festival - in October
The traditional Buddhist Kathina Festival is on full moon at the end of the rainy season.
In our time calculation, it is the full moon of the gregorian of month October or November.
The essential element is it to offer new robes for the monks of a monastery, what's especially in Theravada Buddhism is practiced.

The dates of these celebrations vary annually and will be announced.
